What do I set in the Hotspot settings?

Share your network

With the Hotspot settings, you can configure if you want to share your network with other devices through the UNI’s Wi-Fi hotspot. For normal use, we suggest you leave this option enabled, so that you can share your Wi-Fi with other devices, such as a Samsung tablet. When updating however, it’s recommended to turn the sharing of internet off until after the update, to speed up the updating process. In this window you can also see if devices have connected in the past or are currently connected.

What is a Wi-Fi hotspot?

A Wi-Fi hotspot is an area with an accessible wireless network for other devices that are able to make a connection with Wi-Fi. It’s most often used to refer to wireless networks in public areas like coffee shops, hotels, and restaurants. The UNI-GR1 creates it's own mobile Wi-Fi hotspot while making use of the cellular network or another Wi-Fi network. When you have inserted the SIM-card in the UNI-GR1 and configured the Access Point Name(APN) to receive 3G/4G internet or, in case the UNI-GR1 is connected to Wi-Fi itself, you make your own Wi-Fi hotspot for external devices. Just like with your tablet to control the UNI-GR1 from the UNI-Connect dashboard.

How to turn off internet sharing

By turning off the button that is circled in the picture, you can turn off the sharing of your network with other devices. If you turn this off, you will not share your internet anymore with any other devices. In the picture, the network sharing is turned on.
