The Network Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol(NTRIP) is a protocol that enables the streaming of GNSS or RTK correction data over the internet. NTRIP is designed to broadcast differential correction data to GNSS receivers like the UNI-GRx. With this correction data the UNI-GRx can be centimetre accurate.
The three major parts of NTRIP: The NTRIP-Client, the NTRIP-Server and the NTRIP-Caster:
NTRIP Server
The NTRIP-Server is a computer running NTRIP Server software and communicates directly with a GNSS reference station. The NTRIP-Server serves as the medium between the GNSS receiver (NTRIP Source) streaming RTCM data and the NTRIP Caster.
NTRIP Caster
The NTRIP-Caster is a HTTP server which receives streaming RTCM data from the NTRIP Servers and in turn streams the RTCM data to one or more NTRIP-Clients via the internet. The client in the diagram below is you while using the UNI-GRx.
NTRIP Client
The NTRIP-Client receives RTCM data from the NTRIP-Caster to apply as real-time corrections to a GNSS receiver like the UNI-GRx. On the NTRIP-Caster you can set your preferred mountpoint like “PRSRTCM3” to finally receive your correction data from the NTRIP-Caster. This can be done in the UNI-Connect.
